Lessons learned from implementing a health coaching intervention at scale and pace

Theme: Coaching in context
Area: Coaching
Type: Research & how it has been applied in practice

Session on Thursday, Jul 7th, 15:25
» Where on timetable

Dr Alison Carter is an independent researcher and Principal Associate at the Institute for Employment Studies in the UK where she set up IES’ acclaimed coaching research programme in 2001. She also writes, speaks and consults on a range of HR, OD and mindfulness issues. Alison is a former Director of EMCC UK (2003-5) and was Co-Chair of the Harvard 2nd International Coaching Research Forum.

Using a case study approach with five healthcare organisations across Eastern England, the session will present findings from completed evaluation research which explored clinician views on using a health coaching approach as part of their daily practice and organisation experiences of implementing health coaching. Topics up for discussion include targeting health coaching as a specialist service vs integrating as part of a clinicians ‘day job’ and how organisations might move from having a range of unrelated coaching interventions (each delivering to specific requirements in individual silos) to a more connected view of coaching aligning and supporting wider strategic priorities.
